"Kyoto Summer"
"Kyoto Summer" aerial costume was inspired by that beautiful Chinoiserie image. There's nothing I love more than tapping into my Asian roots and doing an antique-y Orientalism thing.
For this costume I used stretch crushed velvet and rose gold metallic mesh. The entire costume is lined with heavy weight powernet for sturdiness and support. The open back is very low plunge but I can attest after trying it on that there won't be any crack slips! It's well-covered and secure.When I'm creating a costume with an Asian look, I always hear my Japanese mother's voice guiding me. She always tells me to use "Opposite color. Don't use matching color like American style." Which was what she used to tell me when she would combine obis and kimonos together. So, for this I used a deep teal, corally, rosey pinks, bright pink, and greens.
